A work in progress. I would appreciate any feedback from players and DMs, plus would like
sugestions as to what spell level this spell should be.
This spell turns a non-magical javelin into a powerful magical throwing weapon with a
speed of 3.
Against most targets, it counts as a +2 magical weapon that deals 1d8+2 fire damage on
a successful hit. It deals double damage to undead it successfully strikes. Any
creature struck must save vs. spell or be blinded for 1d4 rounds.
In addition, the weapon may result in the total destruction of those undead it strikes
that are specifically affected by sunlight. Such creatures must make a save vs. Death
magic to avoid destruction, with a penalty or bonus equal to half the difference
between their level and the caster's (Thus, an undead with 10 HD would gain a +1 bonus
against the spell cast by a level 8 caster).
The weapon can be thrown up to 60 yards with no penalty for distance, and it
automatically returns to the owner's hand after being thrown. The spell lasts for 1
round per level of the caster, after which the javelin is consumed by the magic.
The material components are a non-magical javelin and the priest's holy symbol.
This spell is available to priests of Aben-Sol. It is rare (25%) to priests of other
LG, NG, and LN priesthoods.
