Shrine to the Goddess
by Stephen Nispel
This is my second draft of a shrine dedicated to the goddess Jhuntara (if you aren't already familiar with the fantasy realm I've created, you can click here to view her description). This shrine has a very "open" design, giving it a grand sense of spaciousness. The arches not only add to the decorative style of the shrine, but also give the structure superior stability and strength. And in the center of the shrine is the water fountain featuring a white marble and silver statue depicting the graceful form of the Goddess herself. The basic layout of the structure constists of a central circular 2-tiered "gazebo", and 4 walkways leading out from the center towards the 4 cardinal directions. All the walls of the structure consist of archways with column supports. The "gazebo" is topped off with a domed roof, while the hallways have corinthian-style angled roofs. The "windows" around the center of the structure use the curled-arcs design created for my "Sanctuary Lake" image. I then added decorative mini-columns to the walls between the arches, and used the "outer" portion of the original curled-arcs design as trim on the walls between the arches and the columns. The handrails along the hallways were made from a symetrical lattice design. The basin of the fountain has a flower-petal layout to it, created by arranging several dozen tori and spheres into 4 seperate semi-circles, trimmed using a boolean cylinder on each of the 4 arrangments. The center pedastal was pulled from a free-for-use fountain object found on the web, then I added the waterspout holes and streams of water. The statue is adapted from the same pre-posed model used for the "Sword of Eternity" image. However, since I don't yet have Poser, I had to create a skirt from terrain object, then added it to the model's bathing suit to create a full-length gown. To fil the empty space between the pre-posed model's hands, I inserted a bucky-ball Bryce model with a nice crystal material. Next on my to-do list for this image is to add an appropriate backdrop. However, since the structure you see here takes over 75MB, I may have to create the backdrop as another project, then combine the brackdrop image with this one, using an image mask.
