With the release of Bryce 6, I have since decided to revisit my old Bryce 4 projects, and give
them all a much-needed facelift. The image you see here is the second of many I hope to revisit,
and I have managed to produce a dramatic improvement over the old image (preview and link at right).
First, I updated the stonework textures from the plain-looking grey/white limestone, to a more
detailed and realistic brownstone on the keep walls. The trim and main support stonework now have
a "dirty" grey granite texture to make them more like weathered stone. The docks and lift
structure have a brighter wood texture (I plan to take out some of the excess color produced
by the new lighting).
The ground now features a more robust dirt and stone texture for the river embankment, and I
have made the grass texture on top a bit more rugged. For now, I opted against placing grass
meshed as I did for the gate view (but may add some at a later date).
As with the gate view, I used the power of Bryce's updated shadow rendering to improve the
lighting of the scene. This gave the shadowed areas more depth (especially under the docks),
making it a bit more like natural outdoor lighting.
I may make a few more minor changes to it yet, depending on what ideas pop into my head. I
hope you all like the changes I have made thus far!
